We’ve all dreamed of living on our own private island. The cool salty breeze on our skin, white sand beaches, a cold drink in hand, and a… did I just hear someone yell “buy the dip”?
As we progress further into Web3 and its future, innovations in the non-fungible token world continue to develop and cater to wild fantasies. And what would a wild fantasy be without your own private island that’s powered by crypto? Well, if you’ve had this evil-genius level thought before, then you’ll love what’s in store for Satoshi Island.
What is Satoshi Island?
Providing a tropical paradise for crypto enthusiasts and business people alike, Satoshi Island, owned and operated by Satoshi Island Ltd., is located off of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Sitting on 800 acres of land, this project aims to become a sustainable smart city that will feature the first-ever real-world crypto-economy running exclusively on crypto and blockchain technologies. This implies that 100% of commerce is crypto-based, and all assets and rights are made available by NFTs, making Satoshi Island a prime example for a real-world use case for blockchain technology.
Labeling themselves as “a home for cryptocurrency professionals and enthusiasts worldwide,” residents of this island will be greeted daily by a backdrop of bright blue water accented by lush greenery and endless coastline. These tropical features beckon those looking for a luxe and futuristic lifestyle, and the housing infrastructure was created with the same goals in mind.
Across the 800 acres on the island, there are 2100 uniquely identified blocks of land available for purchase through what will soon be NFT’s. Meaning that if you would like to be a resident of Satoshi Island, you must purchase your “citizenship” in the form of an NFT that will give you exclusive ownership of that parcel of land. Land parcels can be singular, or you can join multiple together to create larger purpose facilities such as offices, businesses, or apartments.
What Will Homes on Satoshi Island Look Like?
If you think the innovation stops at just the concept, just wait until you hear of the homes. Most of the Satoshi Island buildings will be self-sustainable modular homes. Designed and built by James Law Cybertecture, these modular homes can be positioned into dozens of different designs and styles to create exactly what you need in terms of living, business, and beyond.
James Law is a futurist and visionary who continues to push for innovative and sustainable infrastructure development and has the track record to prove it. Having built similar module homes for the Hong Kong government, Law and his company have the necessary chops to see this project through and create some truly unique designs.
When asked about his involvement in the Satoshi Island project, Law says, “futuristic modular development and sustainability are the principles that Cybertecture was founded on. So joining the Satoshi Island team in order to build an entire smart city based on those principles was a dream come true.”
From self-sustainable homes and a total crypto economy to the breathtaking views of the south pacific all around you, Satoshi Island will surely be a hot commodity and, with that, a project that will be very hard to join.
How to Stake Your Claim to a Piece of the Island
You can register for citizenship on the project’s site, which involves filling out a form in which you agree to specific terms and conditions. Some aspects of this form include listing your ETH wallet address, providing your Twitter handle (you must have over 21 followers), and proof of being active on both OpenSea and in the NFT twitter-sphere.
While these requirements are a bit outside what most NFT projects are currently doing, it is an understandable process when you see this project’s scope and what it sets out to do.
With projects like this coming into the NFT space, it only further proves the real-world use cases of blockchain technology and provides some insane opportunity for anyone in the crypto or NFT world.
So, will you be packing your bags and joining the future home for crypto enthusiasts, or is this a little bit too close to Black Mirror for your liking? Either way, we’ll be following the Satoshi Island journey closely and are excited to see the project’s developments.
