The current NFT market is a bit diluted. Derivative after derivative, all of these apes and doodles are starting to get a bit old, and the community is beginning to search for something new.
In comes Cypher by Collider Craftworks. A sleek, hyperrealistic, 3D character built on the Unreal Engine with the MetaHuman Skeleton. In layman’s terms, this character will be just as detailed and humanlike, if not more so, than the characters in your favorite next-gen videogame.
Who and What
Cypher is an NFT project developed by an Argentinian-based company, Collider Craftworks. While you may not be familiar with the name, if you are in the world of video games, you may have seen their work. From Assassin’s Creed to Mortal Combat, Injustice 2, and even Gotham Knights, this team made up of 84 incredibly talented individuals has the proven abilities to produce beautiful 3D characters, and Cypher is no exception.
Art and Visual Wallet
While the art on this project speaks for itself, there has to be something said about their plans to carry this far beyond just another profile picture (PFP). The team at Collider Craftworks has put into play something called a visual wallet, the place where you can store your non-fungible gear, weapons, clothing, view your character, and beyond.
With this visual wallet coming into play, the opportunity to allow for more NFT’s in the form of wearables and collectibles becomes far more prevalent. In theory, this visual wallet will allow for a robust avatar solution for the metaverse, giving users the ability to view and customize their character inside of the wallet. This wallet is undoubtedly a game-changer in the space, to say the least, in comparison with all of the static, 2D rendered profile pictures.
Having the visual wallet will allow not only for customization but, more simply, for live viewing of your assets without worrying about marketplace server issues (we’re looking at you, OpenSea). Long gone will be the days that you cannot view your NFT; you will be able to not only view but mix, match, and swap to your desires to create the character that you envision.
With Collider Craftworks’ evolution away from the standard profile picture added to their background in video games, it comes as no surprise that these 3D characters will also be playable. Your NFT avatar will be able to play in Collider Craftworks’ series of minigames that they’re developing, the first being called Moshpit.
In Moshpit, you will fight in a player versus environment style game (PVE) to earn loot boxes and gear, presumably for your avatar. While developing a PVE game in collaboration with NFT’s AND a top-notch gaming studio is nothing to bat an eye at, Collider Craftworks takes it a step further and builds their avatars on Unreal Engine with the MetaHuman Skeleton. This development can allow for some crazy products in the future of gaming and NFT’s.

Speculation/Theory
While Collider Craftworks is creating minigames in harmony with their project, I believe there will be insane value in cross-collaboration with studios that also use Unreal Engine. Games such as Fortnite and Back 4 Blood have been built on Unreal Engine, as will games like Gears of War 5 and the Final Fantasy 7 remake. Although this cannot be confirmed, I believe that holders of the Cypher avatar will be able to play in not just Collider Craftworks’ world but in many other universes built on Unreal Engine.
Imagine being able to build out your character to your every desire. From clothing and accessories to guns, masks, and most any other wearable you can think of will be applied to your avatar, and your avatar subsequently dropped into that game. This evolution in gaming and customization will open up a whole new world for both NFT’s and video games, and Collider Craftworks may be just the team to carry out this vision.
Final Thoughts
With current renderings and imagery, it is clear that Cypher by Collider Craftworks is an undeniably beautiful project. Their team has the proven track record to carry this mission out while utilizing the next generation of game development software. From the art and team to their ideation into a visual wallet and customizable characters, this project is shaping up to be something big. So, will you be looking to join the Cypher crew?
